Nazan Clohesy

Partner, Capital Solutions

As a partner at TMC, Nazan Clohesy provides global debt and capital advisory services for corporate finance and investments, restructuring, JV’s and M&A.

She is a Wall Street investment banker and has held senior positions in the Debt Capital Markets Divisions of Lazard Freres, Salomon Smith Barney and JP Morgan Chase (Chemical Bank and Manufacturers Hanover Trust – its predecessors).

An expert in corporate and sovereign investments, credit and leveraged finance, she also has portfolio management experience. Having completed the credit and management training program at the outset of her banking career, and lived through many credit cycles, she gained hard-to-match corporate finance, credit and investment skills, making her one of the few highly qualified veteran credit and corporate finance experts in the market.

Nazan has financed governments, US, European and emerging market corporations of virtually all industries, sizes and credit ratings at lead manager level, structured and placed debt issues, each varying between $50 million and $25 billion. Closely familiar with most major US and international corporations, industries, issuers and investors, she has intimate knowledge of the market dynamics and players. She has coached senior managements for road shows, advised them on their business plans and presentations, addressed investor concerns, issues and questions.

At Lazard Freres, she was the Director of US Bank Loans, focusing on distressed debt. She is a founding member of the Salomon Brothers Bank Loan Group (now Citigroup), responsible for syndicate, underwriting, structuring, placement and trading of bank and hybrid debt with a $35 billion face value.

During her 12-year tenure at Chase, Nazan was first-handedly involved in most major and risk-on corporate financings and syndications of investment/non-investment grade, stressed/distressed debt, M&A finance, leveraged buyouts and restructurings. She placed over $100 billion in assets and held the highest sales record. She also developed Chase’s automated syndications tracking system, the first one in the US.

Nazan has an LL.M. in Corporate Law from New York University Law School, an M.A. in International Affairs from the Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (Bologna, Italy and Washington, D.C.), and a Law Degree from Istanbul Law School. She also has attended the Institute de Hautes Etudes Internationales of Geneva University in Switzerland. In addition to English and Turkish, she speaks Italian, Spanish and French. A member of the Istanbul Bar Association, she also is an alumnus of Üsküdar American Academy in Istanbul.
